Adobe Connect needs Flash to be able to access your webcam and microphone to be able to work properly. Flashes default setting is set to Ask for Permission, however, this can be easily missed or not appear before launching the Adobe Connect add-in. The following guide will go over how to always allow your GLT Connect Classroom to have access to your webcam and microphone. If at anytime you are unable to proceed due to settings being grayed out or missing, please contact your IT department. It is common for businesses to block Flash from accessing cameras and mics on company computers. Before following this guide, please make sure you meet the prerequisites.
Prerequisites:
- Are using the current version of one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari
- Have the current version of the Adobe Add-in installed
- Have the current version of Adobe Flash installed
- Have a stable internet connection that meets are minimum requirements
Setting up your GLT Connect classroom to always allow Flash to access your Camera and Microphone:
- First, log into your GLT Connect classroom and ensure the classroom opened in the Adobe Connect add-in
- Once logged into your classroom, right click anywhere on the screen and choose the option Global Settings
- A new window should appear, switch over the the Camera and Mic tab (second tab from the left)
- On the Camera and Mic tab, make sure the Ask me when a site wants to use the camera or microphone (recommended) option is selected
- After ensuring the correct option is selected, click on the Camera and Microphone Settings by Site... button
- A new window will appear giving you the ability to change the camera and mic settings for specific sites
- If globallt.adobeconnect.com is already in the list, make sure both HTTPS and Other are set to Allow. If the site is not in the list, skip to step 9.
- If it is set to Ask me or something else, change the HTTPS and Other drop down menus to Allow
- If the list of sites is blank or you do not see globallt.adobeconnect.com in the list, click on the Add button on the bottom of the window
- After clicking on the Add button a new window will appear. Enter the following information:
- Website Domain: globallt.sharepoint.com
- When this site wants to use a camera or mic: Allow
- Once the information is entered, click the add button and you should see it appear in the list
- After changing the settings to allow your GLT Connect Classroom to have access to your camera and mic, please close out and reload the classroom.
